National Park De Sallandse Heuvelrug
An area with un-Dutch vistas of large undulating moors and vast forests. The Sallandse Heuvelrug between Hellendoorn and Holten. Characteristic hills are the Hellendoornse Berg, the Haarlerberg, the Holterberg and the Koningsbelt. The latter is the highest, reaching 75 meters above sea level. The landscape was formed in the distant past by sliding ice, melting water and drifting sand.

The Pieterpad is a Long Distance Walking Route (LAW). An LAW is a walk that extends over a longer distance (from about 100km) and does not go around. The starting and finishing points of an LAW are therefore not close to each other. The Pieterpad leads from Pieterburen in northern Groningen to the Sint Pietersberg in southern Limburg, making it the longest continuous walking route in the Netherlands.

In addition to the bicycle junction system, the hiking network has been set up in the direct vicinity of the park for hiking enthusiasts. Before you set off, use the walking network map to map out your route. Put on your walking shoes and enjoy the beautiful nature!
Cycling junctions
With the cycling junction system, you can easily set out the most beautiful routes yourself. Along the way you can expand or shorten the route if you wish. The junction maps are for sale at the reception.

Various cycling and hiking maps are available at the reception desk. Make it easy for yourself with the cycling junction map or that of the walking network. There are also several already plotted routes available. For mountain bikers there are two already plotted routes on the Sallandse Heuvelrug, these start about 300 meters from Holiday Park Hellendoorn.

Natuurmuseum Holterberg
